Join the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park for 2016 Heritage Day at the upper park on Saturday, October 15, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Cornell archeologists will show you what they are unearthing in the site of the former Hamlet of Enfield Falls, which formed the nucleus for the state park when it was created in 1920. Explore the four floors and exhibits in the Old Mill, built in the 1830s, and understand its place in the 19th century agricultural community. There's a lot of history to be discovered in this gorgeous park!

Our president, Monica Howland writes:
"There are quite a lot of bottles and cans to be sorted so I hope that some of us can do that this Thursday morning, September 1 at 9:00.  Alice can open up for us and is available to sort for a few hours and I'll be there as well.  Any time you can contribute will be appreciated. Thanks, Monica

Sorting and redeeming deposit beverage containers left in receptacles at park campgrounds provide much of the funding Friends of Treman raises each year for park projects. Just show your Friends of Treman membership card at the gate at the upper park and you will be admitted for this fun group work session. We welcome newcomers!

Members are welcome and encouraged to help out with our cans and bottle sorting, one of our major fund-raising events as we redeem deposit beverage containers left in receptacles in campgrounds and at the Treman Marina. The work session will take place at the old maintenance building in the upper park (after passing through the entrance ticket booth area, turn left over the bridge and the building is on the left, behind some trees. Friends of Treman members who are coming to the park for a work session or a meeting will be allowed free park entrance upon presenting their membership cards to the staff person at the ticket booth.

We have two sessions for sorting cans and bottles scheduled for the rest of June, from 10 AM until noon on both Thursday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 28. Members are welcome and encouraged to help out with our cans and bottle sorting, one of our major fund-raising events as we redeem deposit beverage containers left in receptacles in campgrounds and at the Treman Marina. The work sessions will take place at the old maintenance building in the upper park (after passing through the entrance ticket booth area, turn left over the bridge and the building is on the left, behind some trees. Our next board meeting will take place on Monday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. on the porch of the picnic shelter at the far end of the parking lot in the upper park.  Members are welcome to attend our board meetings and to help us plan our projects and events.

The Treman Show, a 25-minute video we made about Robert H. Treman State Park several years ago, is now being cablecast on Ithaca area channel 13 (and 97.1). Upcoming cablecasts are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday and Sunday, June 11 & 12, and 8 PM, Tuesday, June 14. Or you can watch it online anytime, anywhere!
The Treman Show also runs continuously on the first floor of the Old Mill in the upper park. Coming soon: individual short chapters of the Treman Show will be able to be watched on this website, including park history and pre-park history, trails, archeology, geology, and plants and animals.

UPDATE: June meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the lunch room in the maintenance building in the lower park (first left after the lower park entrance ticket station; moved from the picnic pavilion in the upper park due to chilly weather.). Members are welcome to attend!

Our monthly Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for this date and time. Members are welcome to attend. We will be evaluating our experience with our third annual I Love My Park Day on the 7th, as well as other agenda items, including progress on a grant application. Throughout the winter, we have been meeting in the lunch room at the maintenance building in the lower park, and we will meet there for this May meeting. But during the warmer months (beginning at this June's meeting), we move to the porch of the picnic pavilion in the upper park (unless it is rented at the time, in which case we meet on the porch of the Old Mill.). At the present time, we are scheduling our monthly meetings on the second Monday of the month unless otherwise posted here.
