The heavy rains on August 9 were particularly damaging to the Gorge Trail in Robert H. Treman State Park. The raging waters tore out walls and steps in the upper gorge area. The Gorge Trail is closed and will need repairs. The Rim Trail is still open. The swimming area is also closed, with lots of silt, gravel, and debris that must be removed.
Nearby Buttermilk Falls State Park fared better. Though the swimming area is closed right now, it is hoped that it will re-open early in the coming week.
Meanwhile, the park video, created by the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park, is now showing continuously in the Old Mill in the upper park. See it online by clicking this link: "Exploring Robert H. Treman State Park"
The next meeting of the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, in the upper park on the porch of the picnic pavilion at the end of the parking lot (unless it is rented, in which case we will meet on the porch of the Old Mill). Members are welcome!
